The term “hidden” disabilities is used to describe disabilities or disorders that are not obvious to the average observer. Youth with hidden disabilities are likely to participate in recreational sports activities; however, coaches receive little, if any, preparation for including this population. This website is designed to be an interactive resource for coaches, parents, and researchers interested in better meeting the needs of athletes with hidden disabilities. The content will primarily focus on: 1) The inclusion of athletes with hidden disabilities into sport and recreational activities 2) How to best train professionals to meet the needs of this population. We hope that you will find this website to be an evolving and up-to-date resource for your coaching, parenting and/or research needs.
